What are Backlinks in Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?

Backlinks are very important term in search engine optimization. It is most used word in SEO. Backlinks are very important to rank your website in search engines.

Backlink definition:

Backlinks are the links that are come from other websites. When we create backlink to any other website or web page it makes a link between your website and the site where you create your backlink. Simply you can say when a web page links to any other web page it’s called backlink.

Backlinks are very important to increase the traffic of your site and it helps to rank your site at major search engines. In past backlinks are very important factor in website ranking. Today it also has very important in search engines. Some terms are related to backlink that we need to discuss.

Here are the terms:-

Link juice: When a web page links to your website or any of your article it passes link juice. This link juice helps your article or website to rank in top positions of major search engines. It also helps to increase the domain authority of your website. Link juice is good for your website.

Do-Follow Links: When a website link to any other website and it passes link juice it’s called do-follow backlink. By default all the links that you used in posts are do-follow links. These links has do-follow tag or not.

No-Follow Links: When a website links to another website and website not pass the link juice it’s called no-follow backlink. No-Follow backlink has no-follow tag.  It is not important in website ranking. Sometime it is useful but usually it has no important.

Low-Quality Links: When a link come from the spam, harvested, automated sites or even porn sites it’s called low quality backlink. These types of links are not good for your website so avoid it to make low quality backlinks.

Linking Root Domains: This refer to the number of backlinks that come from unique domains to your website. If you create hundreds of backlinks in one domain it considered as one linking rot domain.

Internal Links: When link come from one page to another within the same domain it called internal links. This process itself called to internal linking.

Anchor Text: This text is used for hyperlink. It has important when you want to rank particular keyword.
